Our Story

Hi everyone, my name is Henry and I have always been a foodie, fascinated by the flavours of different cuisines and indulging on the taste of amazing food.


My first exposure to XO Sauce was when I was 4, my dad had cooked it at home using his own recipe and I was shocked by the amount of ingredients and preparation required. At the time I have never heard of XO Sauce and questioned if it's actually worth the effort? But as soon as the cooking process started, I had no doubt this will be one of the best culinary aromatics I will smell and after tasting it the sauce blew my mind. It got to the point where I was eating XO Sauce by itself and yes it was that addictive.


In present time, I decided to make a huge life decision and quit my 9-5 corporate job to start making XO Sauce. I want to introduce XO Sauce to the wider community because currently not many people know about it other than asian cultures. The aim is to have XO Sauce be a kitchen staple and once you try it the taste will definitely be a game changer.


The name Papa Zhu was created to honour my dad (our surname is Zhu) in teaching me many things in life and passing down the recipe to me, without him I wouldn't be where I am today.


I currently run Papa Zhu solely from cooking the sauce, sticking labels, bottling and delivery and it's my first time running a business as I will always aim to improve and do better.
